Bus
Buses are the most common way people travel in Sri Lanka. They are cheap and can be found in almost every town and village. There are government buses (SLTB) and private buses. For long trips, you can also find comfortable buses with air conditioning.
Train
Trains are popular for beautiful journeys like Kandy to Ella and Colombo to Galle. They are slower but comfortable, and many tourists like to travel by train.
Other
Tuk-tuks (three-wheelers) are a common and easy way to travel short distances, and you can either agree on the price or book them through apps. For more comfortable travel, private taxis and ride-hailing apps are available mainly in cities. For faster travel to popular tourist locations, domestic flights and helicopters are also available.
